For many years, Italy has been one of the most important markets for cured products of cod from Norway; mainly stockfish but also wetsalted and drysalted products.Today it is also Europe’s 4th largest consumer market of salmon, with Norway as the leading supplier.
The distribution of cod and salmon is still limited in the market and the consumption per capita of cod and salmon is relatively low. Though trade is searching for more supply of seafood products and consumers have a preference for the Norwegian products.
The Norwegian Seafood Council, in collaboration with the Norwegian Embassy and Innovation Norway Italy, is organizing a seminar to be held on May 13th in Milan.
The seminar aims at sharing some views on the opportunities in the market and how we can approach them to develop it further.It will address mainly to the following topics:
- Challenges and opportunities in the development of the industry and the consumer’s expectations.
- Seafood and health
- New products for new consumers
- What do the consumers look for?
The State Secretary of the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries Drønen Ringdal will also be present during the event.A gala dinner with delicious Norwegian seafood dishes will follow the seminar.
