Expo 2015: Much more than an exhibition

The Universal Exposition taking place in Milan next year will be more than just an exhibition, it will also a process, characterized by active participation between a large number of international players around the common theme of “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”. Open from May 1 to October 31, the Expo 2015 will host over 140 participants (144 countries and 3 international organizations) in an area covering one million square meters.

Expo Milano 2015 will be an arena for discussion about the problems of nutrition and the resources of our planet with the scope to open up a dialogue between international players to exchange views and propose solutions to these major challenges. From all over the world, entrepreneurs, researchers, experts, chefs and artists will take part in an extraordinary and unique exposition, packed with shows, events, conferences and meetings. Expo Milano 2015 will be the first Exposition in history aiming at contributing towards education on food and the planet’s precious resources. Besides the main theme, five Expo Sub-themes (or Thematic Areas) offer the opportunity to explore and reflect on matters relating to that particular area. The pavilion communities are also grouped, not by geographical area, but by a common theme and food group to which they belong, creating Clusters.

The Expo 2015 will also look towards technological innovation, involving actively businesses, which are considered the driving force behind research and progress. It may become an occasion for exploring the technology of entire production chains, illustrating advanced technologies and the associated infrastructures and logistical systems.

Tickets may be purchased online through the official website with a 20% discount until 30th April 2015. Expo 2015 is expected to welcome over 20 million visitors. 1 million tickets are already sold to Chinese tours operators and from Australia 220.000 visitors are expected, which is an extraordinary number considering that Australia is not listed among the exhibitors. Expo 2015 represents unique possibilities for Norwegian companies to network closely with International authorities, companies and organizations involved in issues regarding nutrition and sustainable management of food resources.

Innovation Norway may organize site delegation visits, participation to events in calendar and projects connected to the exposition.
