The French law on energy transition for green growth, as of 17. August 2015, sets the target of 32% renewable energies in France by 2030. The president of the French National Association for Renewable Energy (which regroups about 400 companies within the renewable sector), Jean-Louis Bal, emphasizes that the French marine energy sector is part of the energy transition. On the eve of the convention, 31. May, the French National Association for Renewable Energy, will organize its national conference on marine renewable energies in Biarritz. France’s minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, Ségolène Royal, and Amber Rudd, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change in the UK, will attend this high-level political event.

Alain Rousset, president of the regional council, is supportive of Seanergy’s efforts to develop marine renewable energy in the region. Rousset underlines that their “ambition on offshore wind is to be a key stakeholder together with the French State in the field of maritime spatial planning”.

Seanergy Biarritz 2016 brings together stakeholders from the whole marine renewable energies industry and aims to create synergies and partnerships between public, private, local, national and international actors.
