Take part in “South Africa – Norway Science Week”
October 31st through November 4th in Pretoria and Cape Town to find out more about the gateway to Africa.
The first South Africa – Norway Science Week aims to explore opportunities for cooperation in business, innovation and education.
The ocean space and the blue economy
The close relationship between South Africa and Norway dates back to the pre-freedom years, when Norway actively supported opposition to the apartheid regime. There are many areas of cooperation between the two countries. The ocean space and the blue economy is a strategic priority for both countries, providing a fertile basis for cooperation, innovation, and the pursuit of profitable business opportunities.
What’s in it for me?
- A huge potential for new business development, and a gateway into other markets on the African continent. South Africa is an economic powerhouse with a well-developed infrastructure and persistent growth.
- Learn how key stakeholders view opportunities and challenges related to the ocean space over the next decade.
- A framework for research, education and innovation.
- Innovative ideas will be shared and discussed. Entrepreneur will be able to discuss business with leaders of companies and government agencies that may well become future partners and customers.
Science Week will kick off on Monday 31st October in Pretoria and will highlight the relationship between the two countries and our shared emphasis on ocean space as an opportunity for cooperation in innovation, business development, education and research. Sources for funding of research and innovation will be presented, along with real-life cases and examples of best practice.
Focus on Tuesday 1st November in Cape Town will be on new business opportunities in the blue economy. Norwegian companies offering products and services in South Africa, startups, researchers and students from both countries are invited to display their ideas.
On Wednesday 2nd November you will have opportunities to connect and interact with old and new acquaintances in a number of workshops with introductions, presentations, discussions and panel debates and on Thursday 3rd November various special interest groups are organizing seminars in Cape Town and excursions in the Western Cape.
