The1st Business Climate Survey of India for Norwegian companies is to be released in Oslo on January 11th. The survey will have a dedicated report on opportunities in the Maritime sector, and give input for Norwegian businesses in all sectors interested in India.
India has been described as the “only bright spot” on the global economic scenario and has emerged as the fastest growing major economy. It has been attracting largest foreign direct investment globally and the startup scenario is a classic example of this upbeat mood.
Developments in India
Norwegian companies are present in India for long and cover areas like maritime, oil & gas, fisheries & aquaculture, ICT, Health, and Renewables among others. The recent policy initiatives by the Indian government have generated a lot of interest on Norwegian side and there is an urge to know about the developments in India.
It is in this context, Innovation Norway in collaboration with the Consulate General in Mumbai & the Norwegian Business Association is coming out with the 1st Business Climate Survey of India for Norwegian companies.
The idea is to understand the profile of Norwegian companies present in India, areas in which they operate and their experience of working here. At the same time it’s important to know about how different sectors are doing and how the policies and projects have affected the sentiment of Norwegian business community about India.
Maritime sector being the most important for Norway in India, the survey will have a dedicated report about different aspects of it like inland waterways, coastal shipping, ship design & building, sustainable shipping etc.
It also looks into the opportunities that Norwegian companies see for themselves in India and the timeframe for the same. While working in a new market there are various challenges like cultural barriers, role of Government agencies, processes and procedures, availability of skilled workforce etc. The survey will try to address these challenges and have some inputs for the Norwegian businesses who are interested in India.
The survey is an attempt to not just capture the sentiment of the business community but also to have concrete suggestions for both the Indian government as well as Norwegian businesses.
